Before you book

Cosmetic tattoo is a two-session process and how it heals depends on your skin, your health and how you prepare. Please read this before you secure a time. If anything here applies to you, call or message first and Emmanita will tell you honestly whether it’s a good idea.

Tell the studio before booking if

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You take any medicines or supplements
  • You have a skin condition on or near the area
  • You have a medical condition, or are having medical treatment
  • You have had a cosmetic procedure on your face recently
  • Your face is freshly tanned or sunburnt
  • You have had your brows or lips tattooed before, anywhere

Emmanita and your healthcare professional can advise on your circumstances. Do not stop or change medicines or supplements based on this website.

You must be 18 or over. Queensland law does not allow tattooing anyone under 18, including cosmetic tattooing.

How to prepare

Two weeks before
Come with brows grown out, as Emmanita likes to see how they naturally grow. If you want to shape them, do it at least two weeks before. No tinting within two weeks of the appointment.
Previous brow tattoo
Send a clear photo of your brows before booking. Brow re-work and colour correction need pre-approval and a thorough consultation first. Correction requirements
Numbing cream
You organise your own. Full instructions arrive with your booking confirmation. Discuss numbing products with your doctor or pharmacist and follow their directions.
On the day
If you usually fill in your brows, come with makeup on to show your regular shape. Allow three to four hours for brows or lips.

Deposits, changes and cancellations

  • A $50 deposit applies to every booking and comes off the total.
  • Your deposit is refunded if you cancel at least 48 hours before your appointment.
  • Cancelling with less than 48 hours’ notice, or not showing up, forfeits the $50 deposit. A new deposit is needed to rebook.
  • If you are more than 15 minutes late the studio may need to reschedule, and the deposit is forfeited.
  • To reschedule, contact Emmanita directly. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law still apply.

What’s realistic

Cosmetic tattooing is a multi-step process and healing and outcomes are not guaranteed. Each person heals uniquely. A minimum of two appointments is required for optimal results. In some cases additional appointments may be necessary to refine the shape, colour or saturation. Further appointments are charged accordingly.

Your final result can be affected by skin type, medications, lifestyle, sun exposure and how closely you follow the aftercare instructions. Come with realistic expectations and you’ll be delighted; that’s the honest version.

Does it hurt?

You organise your own numbing cream before the appointment and it is applied before work starts. Everyone’s comfort level is different; most clients find brows easier than lips.

Can I go back to work the same day?

Yes. Brows and lips look bolder and a little red for the first day or two, then darken and lightly flake before softening to the healed colour. Aftercare instructions come with your appointment.

What if I’ve had my brows tattooed before?

Send clear photos from all angles before booking. Old work must be faded first and is assessed case by case; some brows need colour correction or removal before anything new.
